AED, a nonprofit technical assistance organization based in Washington,
D.C., USA, is looking for Hungarian-speaking experts to work on 2-3 year
assignments in Hungary on strengthening public administration at the local
government level. The project, funded by the U.S. Agency for
International Development has 6 components: 1) capacity building
technical assistance to local governments, 2)assistance in building
citizen awareness and participation, 3) develop and institutionalize
Hungarian capability to train small city government administrators, 4)
assistance to develop and strengthen inter-local government cooperation,
5) help to increase and strengthen the capability of the Federation of
Local Governments to represent small city interests and provide services
for its membership, and 6) limited short term technical assistance and
training to central government on matters related to local government
issues. The project requires 4 staff to be based in Hungary, including 3
specialists in local government management for 36 months each and 1
training expert for 30 months, plus a legal specialist based in the U.S.
for a total of 4 months of short trips to Hungary (probably 2-4 weeks
each).
