PROJECT COORDINATOR 


The Organization

The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe
(REC) is an international foundation operating in the 13 countries
of Central and Eastern Europe. The mission of the REC is to promote
cooperation among diverse environmental groups and interests in
Central and Eastern Europe; to act as a catalyst for developing
solutions to environmental problems in the region; and to promote
the development of a civil society.

This position is available with the Environmental Management
Training Center (EMTC) Network, one of the regional initiatives of
the REC. The activities of the EMTC Network include working with the
leading environmental management training institutions in Central
and Eastern Europe to facilitate the exchange of information and
expertise, and build their sustainability, that is to ensure that
these organizations will retain the capacity of providing
high-quality training courses even in the absence of external
support.


The Position

The Project Coordinator will be based in the REC's Headquarters in
Hungary, and will be primarily responsible for the implementation
and coordination of our new training-the-trainers project in
Albania. The project will include organizing and coordinating the
delivery of three training modules and training of trainers in
Albania using the human resources of the EMTC Network's
organizations in other CEE countries. The training courses include a
wide variety of environmental management subjects such as
Environmental Policy, Envronmental Impact Assessment, Public
Participation, Chemical Emergency Response and others. Other
responsibilities will include the administration and oversight of
our Environmental Management Training projects in the Czech Republic
and Hungary. The assignment, starting December 1, 1995 (or as soon
as possible), is initially for one year with prospects for extension
for a longer period.


Qualifications

An ideal candidate will have excellent organization and
communication skills, English proficiency, knowledge of at least one
CEE language, and proven relevant experience. Furthermore, the
candidate will have a good understanding of the concept of training
and training-of-trainers, will be enthusiastic, optimistic and
willing to travel.


We are offering compensation based on the candidate's qualification
and previous experience. This is a  challenging and exciting

enthusiastic team, and in excellent working conditions.
